SafeSport – Where Your Game Plan Starts

**For the new 2017-18 SafeSport Manual, CLICK HERE.

We all have a role to play in creating a healthy setting for sport. SafeSport helps raise awareness about misconduct in sport, promote open dialogue, and provide training and resources. When we work as a team, we can build a game plan to make sport safe―for everyone.

  • Recognize: Learn about the different types of misconduct in sport.
  • Reduce: Develop a strategy to ensure athlete well-being.
  • Respond: Know how to take action before there's a problem.

The USOC has mandated that each National Governing Body (NGB) prepares and instills SafeSport programming.
USA Volleyball is a forerunner with this training and full organization rollout plan and as a member region, Iowa Region is also fully invested in this program as well.

Need to report an abuse or misconduct?

Flow Chart of what to report and to whom.

USA Volleyball requires the reporting of sexual misconduct by or of any member and strongly encourages reporting of any concerns related to SafeSport. Please read over the Report Abuse information to fill out a Report Abuse Form.

Don't attempt to Investigate validity
before you report.

SafeSport Training & Certification Process

All adults associated with a Jr Team (Region Office Staff, Board Members, Region Program Staff, Referees, Tournament Directors, Club Directors, Team Reps, Refs and Scorekeepers, Chaperones and Coaches of junior teams--regardless of the coaches' age) must all complete the 90 minute certification course. All adults associated with a Jr. team & club and all coaches.
Please note that SafeSport is NOT a required course for athletes!

NEED A SAFESPORT CERTIFICATION?

To obtain a new, 2-year certification, simply log in to your USAV Membership area and follow the USAV Clinics tab (on the left-hand side). Follow on screen prompts to register for the course and to the training.

If you took your course in the 2016-17 season, your course should be current through the end of the 2017-18 season. To double check, log in to your USAV account and view all of your certifications (& their expiration dates) in your membership area.

SAFESPORT TRAINING FOR ALL PARENTS:

SafeSport Parent Course (Free)
There is also a new SafeSport course for any parents who do not need certification. This Parent course does not issue certification credit, so this is not for official Jr Parent Helpers.

Please share this link with parents of Junior athletes. .
