GENERAL IMPACT INFORMATION
IMPACT (Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory) is the entry level coaching certification required by USA Volleyball.
- All coaches are required to complete their IMPACT training course and become IMPACT Certified. This requirement helps cover liability issues for the Regions, Junior Clubs, Junior Teams and Junior Coaches.
- Once IMPACT certified, the certification remains on your membership from year to year in Iowa. Currently, there is no recertification process...it follows your renewal automatically. If you have IMPACT, you won't need to do it again.
- All coaches, regardless of their age (juniors who are also coaching or adults) or role (assistants, volunteers, head coaches) need to be IMPACT certified.
- IMPACT certification should be complete before first contact....practices or competition.
- As of November 28, 2017:
SafeSport is no longer included in IMPACT so the course is now only 4 hours. It is no longer divided into two parts (an IMPACT A only option is no longer available). - If you took part A last year and need to complete part B, it can be done at a live clinic, live webinar or on demand webinar. - DEADLINE - all coaches must still be IMPACT certified before they are placed on a roster. Coaches and assistant coaches should be certified before their first contact--practice or competition.
- High School coaching certifications do not fulfill this requirement but USAV does offer an equivalence option. Find more on that HERE.

HOW TO OBTAIN A 2017-2018 IMPACT CERTIFICATION
WHO NEEDS WHICH COURSE:
This year, all new coaches will need a full IMPACT certification to be placed on a roster and before coaching. But remember, IMPACT does not expire. If you've had the coursework and completed the certification in the past (and it's properly displaying in your membership area), you do not need to take the course again.

New coaches will attend from 6pm-9:30pm.
Returning coaches who took IMPACT A last year, and need just B, should register but are free to wait until 7:45pm to log on to the webinar to take the second half. - In person clinic. Full IMPACT Online, On-Demand through USA Volleyball. This NEW full course is approx 4 hours in length and $40. To register, log into your USAV member area and follow the USAV Coaching Clinic tab. After registering there, your curricula will be loaded and found in your USAV Academy (the red button in your membership area).
On-Demand option for IMPACT B offer.
