2018-2019 High Performance Age Divisions:


The USAV HP age-group classifications are consistent with those established by the FIVB. Those age-group classifications govern international competition and all levels of HP programs. Please note that these age-group classifications differ from USA Volleyball Junior club age definitions and also from grade classifications of U.S. school systems.


USAV High Performance works on a two-year cycle.  Athletes remain in the same age group throughout the two years, then move up to the next age group at the beginning of the next even year to start a new cycle. Athletes may only tryout and play in their own age group – there is no “playing up".

2018-2019 Women / Girls' HP Age Groups
Women's Junior - Born in 1999, 2000 or 2001
Girls' Youth - Born in 2002 or 2003
Girls' Select - Born in 2004 or 2005
Girls’ Future Select - Born in 2006, 2007 or later

2018-2019 Men / Boys' HP Age Groups
Men's Junior - Born in 1999 or 2000
Boys' Youth - Born in 2001 or 2002
Boys' Select - Born in 2003 or 2004
Boy’s Future Select - Born in 2005, 2006 or later

*Iowa HP will compete in the BOYS Regional Division at HPCs - Born in 2001 or later
