2015 PVL Championship Recap

Team Iowa Ice competed at the 2015 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Championships in Detroit, Michigan at the end of May.  Team Iowa Ice started the tournament playing Arizona Sizzle in a low scoring first set (16-25).  After dropping set one Iowa Ice was able to win the next three sets and the match (26-24, 25-22, 25-17).  After a victory over Arizona Sizzle, Iowa Ice was scheduled to play Gateway VC.  Iowa Ice was able to control most of this match winning in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-18).

Day two represented a more difficult schedule but still a victorious day for Team Iowa Ice.  The first match of the day Ice was set to play Ohio Valley Sky.  Ohio was able to start of strong with a win in set one (16-25).  However, Iowa Ice was able to win sets two and three (25-21, 25-19).  Ohio came back in set four (21-25) to force a deciding set.  Iowa was able take set five in a convincing fashion (15-8).  After a well fought first match Ice then had to face the third ranked Team IE.  Iowa Ice was able to win in a three sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-18).  The third set of the day found Team Iowa Ice playing Dream Team NCVA.  Ice started off strong winning set one (25-18).  But they found themselves dropping the next three sets (19-25, 30-32, 25-27).

During bracket play Team Iowa Ice first played Western Empire.  Again Ice started strong winning set one (25-23).  However, Western Empire was able to make a come back winning the next three sets (20-25, 19-25, 21-25) to down Iowa Ice.  After playing Western Empire, Iowa Ice had to play Florida Wave Women.  Unfortunately, the Wave was too much for Ice downing them in three sets (18-25, 19-25, 12-25).  Iowa Ice played well throughout the week and was able to finish the tournament in 6th place.
